Installing Krauser sideracks on the BMW 2004 R1200C Montauk

As the R1200C "Montauk" is not available in Germany, Krauser does not have a kit specifically for the R1200C "Montauk". Krauser designed the 4005.003.101 siderack kit to fit the BMW R850C and the R1200C; however, Kevin Frank, a client of ours from Montana, has provided a tutorial on installing these racks on the 2004 R1200C "Montauk". Here it is!

Kawasaki W650 with Hepco-Becker Gobi topcase and sidecases

Here are before and after shots of my W650 with Hepco-Becker side and top luggage rack and Gobi top and side cases. The locking mechanism on the side cases was not functional with the large, stock rear turn signals on the W650. I replaced the rear signals with small halogen Kuryakyn (www.kuryakyn.com) signals. This allowed plenty of room to lock and unlock the side cases.

Mark Jenks from Trail Rider Magazine went burning through Baja and sent us these shots of his KTM LC4 Adventure set up with SW-Motech Quick-Lock sideracks and Hepco-Becker aluminum sidecases, which apparently double as maintenance stands in a pinch. Our photo contest winner from October was John Daniele with this rally-ready F650GS Dakar. John mounted the 37 liter Trax Alu-Boxes to the SW-Motech Quick-Lock EVO carriers and also opted for the accessory expansion bags from Bags-Connection. The Tentbag shown works out great on this bike's rear rack, and is also designed for easy attachment to the rear seat and tail bags from Bags-Connection.
